Central Luzon police gear up for ASEAN meetings in Clark

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – The Central Luzon regional police office (PRO3) on Friday said that it is all set to deploy 5,700 police officers to secure the Clark Freeport Zone, one of the venues of the 11th Associatio­n of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Defense Ministers’ Meeting from November 16 to 17.

PRO3 Director Chief Supt. Amador V. Corpus said that additional security contingent­s were sent to augment those earlier deployed in areas where the 400 delegates will be billeted to ensure their safety and security.

Lahat na ng kapulisan natin are ready for the ASEAN. They will be on duty 24/7 to secure all vital installati­ons, particular­ly the airports and seaports, economic key points as well as places of convergenc­es and the delegates,’’ Corpus said.

“So far, we have not monitored any direct threat in relation to the ASEAN meet,’’ he added.

Corpus said that command posts have already been set in major areas and will be manned by medical teams as well as quickrespo­nse groups and civil disturbanc­e management units who are prepared and ready to respond to emergencie­s and eventualit­ies.
