Marquez, Serra make heads turn

-

Two players, Angel Serra III and Vicente Marquez, jumped the gun on the big field eyeing the jackpot prize when they made holes-in-one right on the very first day of the 21st staging of the Founders Cup, the member-guest tournament of the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmarinas, Cavite.

Serra aced the No. 7 of the Palmer course in the morning before Marquez followed with his own on the 16th hole of the same Palmer course. They are the first claimants to the 2017 MercedesBenz C180 Avantgarde worth almost P3 million staked as hole-in-one prizes on all par-3 holes of the Palmer course.

Unless someone else shoots an ace on the last two days of the event this weekend, they will share the prize with Marquez also poised to win a Yamaha cart staked as an added prize on the hole where he scored his ace.

Indian expat Pushkar Misra and his guest partner Raymond Lacdao, meanwhile, combined for a net 50 points at the Player course to lead all scorers at the Player course while Danilo Macalino and Ferdinand Echiverri conspired for a net 90 for the best aggregate at the Palmer layout after the first half of action.

Derrico Dimaunahan and Aniceto Mandanas combined for 9-over-par 63 to lead the low gross competition in the event backed by Petron Corp., Banco De Oro-CLG/VISA, Philippine Airlines, CATS Motors and Sta. Lucia Realty.
