PNU HOSTS 16TH AUPF
Leaders of the founding member institutions and close to 100 universities from Asia gathered in Makati on November 22, 2017 for the 16th Asian University Presidents Forum (AUPF) which was hosted by The Philippine Normal University (PNU) in cooperation with the University of Santo Tomas, the Philippine Women’s University, Our Lady of Fatima University, Bicol University, and Adamson University.
Under the theme, “Innovations and Foresights: Education Solutions for a Better World,” Dr. Ester B. Ogena presided over the conference and the Standing Committee Meeting where the presidents from Asia discussed relevant topics and issues in education and forged agreements between universiites to initiate inter-institutional and collaborative projects.
The presidents were welcomed by Asec. Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega from the Office of ASEAN Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Commissioner Lilian De Las Llagas of the Commission on Higher Education. Dr. Annabelle Duncan, Vice Chancellor of the University of New England and Prof. Sui Guangjun, chairman of the University Board and President and founding member of AUPF at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies led the forum with their important inputs to lay the visions and directions of the organization. The presidents had an interface with the delegates through paper presentations covering the subthemes: Technology Solutions, Teaching and Learning, and Covernance and Policies.
The 2017 AUPF which was held in the Philippines for the first time on November 21-23, 2017 likewise provided a venue for networking of Asian universities within and beyond the region.
