SKATEBOARDERS’ FEAT
— The group DC (Defying Convention) Philippines celebrates before a giant skateboard installation after breaking the world record for the ‘Largest Skateboarding Parade’ with 1,108 local skaters lining up the streets of Manila on ‘Go Skateboarding Day’ last June 21. Guinness World Records officially declared their feat on Oct. 13, 2017.
Conceived in 1994, DC has since grown into a leading global brand rooted in skateboarding and the action sports lifestyle.
Upon arriving in the Philippines over eight years ago, DC not only introduced a unique and innovative approach to skateboarding and lifestyle footwear but also brought along with it a larger-than-life ethos that ultimately encourages individuals to challenge the ordinary.

Last June 21, DC decided to celebrate Go Skateboarding Day by making history when it broke the record for the world’s largest skateboarding parade with the official count of 1,108 and an unofficial count of 2,800 participants.
Officially approved last October 13 by Guinness World Record, DC surpassed the 498 record set by the LA-based Venice High School Alumni Association Centennial Celebration Committee in 2011.
The categories for the Core Competition included the first-ever DC invitational, Highest Ollie, Longest Gap, Best Grind, and Skate Submit, a contest which recognized the skater with the best trick video.
