QMMC pedia patients receive holiday cheer

- By RAYMUND F. ANTONIO

Vice President Leni Robredo made a surprise visit on Sunday to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC) in Quezon City to bring holiday cheers to the children confined at the hospital.

Robredo spent her morning with the children who received Christmas presents from her office and its partners, the Jesse Robredo Foundation and Kythe Foundation.

Accompanied by her daughter Tricia, the Vice President walked around the hospital’s pediatric ward also to comfort the parents and other family members of ill children.

“The Jesse Robredo Foundation was thinking of charity work and we suggested this. Instead of holding a Christmas party, it wanted to assist the patients, children,” she said during her weekly radio show, “BISErbisyong Leni.”

“Especially one of our partners, Kythe Foundation, this is one of their areas. This is their Christmas activity,” she added.

This was the first time Robredo hosted her own program, which was aired live, outside the RMN-dxXL radio station.

There was no media coverage because Robredo’s visit to the QMMC was not on her official schedule though the Office of the Vice President took a Facebook live video of the event.

“We decided to have a program here because we want to highlight what the hospital is doing good and what are the other needs of the hospital we can be of help,” she said in Filipino.

During her visit, QMMC officer-incharge and lawyer Angelo Inventor spoke to Robredo about the limited capacity of the government-owned hospital, which, nonetheless continuously admits patients in need of medical assistance.
