TACLOBAN CITY – The remains of three landslide victims were recovered yesterday, days after the tragic incident Saturday night in Barangay 43-B, Quarry District, triggered by heavy rains.

Tacloban City police chief Sr. Supt. Rolando Bade identified the three fatalities as Sharee Ann Amancio, 57; Zoe Ma. Shyde V. Hernandez, 17, and Alejandro Mayoralzo, 62, all residents of Barangay 43-B.

The remains of barangay watchman Delia Carson, 60, was recovered earlier by rescue and retrieval team members.

Eight residential houses were destroyed when the wall of one of the houses collapsed, eventually triggering the landslide and buried the victims.

Many residents of Barangay 43-B and Barangay 49 are currently in evacuation centers because of the flood and landslide.

Meanwhile, classes in all levels both in private and elementary schools in the city were still suspended yesterday due to sustained heavy rains.

Tacloban City Councilor Jerry S. Uy said many areas of the city are still flooded.

Uy delivered a privilege speech last week asking authorities to look into the perennial flooding in various parts of the city, particularly at the National Road in Barangay Nula-tula, VG Subdivision, Barangay Utap and the downtown area or commercial district of Tacloban City.
