Bulacan livelihood training center to be named after Ople
CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — As a tribute to the late Gat Blas F. Ople, Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando signed yesterday Provincial Resolution No. 048-T’18 which names the newlyconstructed Livelihood Training Center of the province as the Gat Blas F. Ople Sentro ng Kabataan, Kaalaman, at Hanapbuhay.
The signing was witnessed by Senator Cynthia Villar who was the guest of honor at the celebration of Ople’s 91st birth anniversary at the Provincial Capitol building in this city.
In addition to the tribute, Alvarado announced that the Provincial Library will soon have a specific section wherein the works of Ople will be displayed to serve as an inspiration to the Bulakeño youth, especially the students.
“Of all his many many contributions to uplift the lives of common Filipinos and to strengthen the foundations of our democracy, perhaps the best tribute we can give him (Ople) is to value what he had started for the betterment of our motherland and our nation,” Alvarado said in Filipino.
Board Member Felix Ople of the 1st District of Bulacan and son of Blas Ople thanked the provincial government for once again giving honor to his father by annually celebrating his birthday.
For her part, Senator Cynthia Villar, the guest of honor, believes that the talent and intelligence of Filipinos could be used to uplift the economy and to support the interests of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
“Panahon na upang makilala ang Pilipinas bilang front runner sa industriya ng turismo at agrikultura. Iyan ang pangarap para sa atin ni Ka Blas F. Ople at iyan din ang pangarap nating lahat (The time has come for the Philippines to be known as a frontrunner in the tourism and agriculture industries. That is the dream Ka Blas F. Ople and we share),” the lady senator said.
