TAGBILARAN CITY – More than 15,000 athletes from Central Visayas will compete starting on February 24 in the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVRAA) 2018 meet here.

The different delegations will be billeted in city schools during the four-day event.

The city police force has set up security measures ahead of the event.

Superintendent Patricio Degay Jr., city police chief, said around 500 policemen will be deployed in key areas including sports venues which are mostly located in this city.

Officers from municipal police stations in Bohol will be tapped as an augmentation force, Degay said.

Senior Superintendent Angeles Genorga Jr., the newly Bohol police chief, ordered various police stations in the municipalities where related activities will be held to start their own security preparations.

Degay said Genorga also ordered municipal police chiefs to deploy additional personnel at tourist spots that will be visited by the athletes and their coaches.

Genorga wanted the same stringent security measures implemented last year for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meetings in Bohol applied during the regional sports meet.
