- By ROY C. MABASA

Kuwaiti authorities have identified the suspects in the death of the Filipina household service worker whose body was discovered inside a freezer in a vacant apartment in the district of Hawally, Kuwait the previous week

The suspects were identified as Lebanese Nader Issam Assaf and his Syrian wife Mona Hassoun, employers of murdered overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Joanna Daniela Demafelis.

Officers tasked to investigate the case disclosed that Assaf and Hassoun are in Syria.

According to reports, the couple and their two children left Kuwait in November 2016, while the body of Demafelis was discovered recently when the owner of the apartment obtained permission from the court to enter the premises.

Apparently, the Lebanese national was wanted by Kuwaiti authorities in connection with several legal cases and with a court ruling of 14 days in jail.

Assaf was supposedly the sponsor of Demafelis and that he was the one who reported her missing two days before he and his wife left Kuwait.

The Interpol is now looking for the suspects.

A manhunt has also been launched by the Kuwaiti police to arrest the couple.

This was the assurance given by the Kuwaiti ministries of interior and foreign affairs to the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait during their meeting over the weekend.
