R1.25-M shabu seized in QC sting; 2 arrested
More than R1 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated by the police from two notorious drug suppliers in Metro Manila following a drug sting in Quezon City (QC) before dawn Friday.
Quezon City Police District director Guillermo Eleazar identified the arrested drugsuspects as Samim Mapandi, 29, a resident of Sta. Mesa, Manila, and Junarie Basher, 26, of Paco, Manila.
According to QCPD District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) chief Ferdinand Mendoza, Mapandi and Basher are among the biggest illegal drug suppliers in Manila, Quezon City and Pasay City who have been under surveillance for a month.
Upon confirmation of their illegal activity, the QCPD-DDEU, La Loma Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a buy-bust operation in front of a bank at the corner of Quezon Avenue and Biak na Bato Street in Barangay Sto. Domingo at around 1:30 a.m.
An undercover police officer arranged a deal for R600,000 worth of of illegal drugs from the duo which eventually resulted in their arrest.
Authorities recovered two plastic bags of shabu weighing some 200 grams with an estimated street value of R1,250,000 and the marked bills used received by the suspects.
Drug-related charges are being prepared against the arrested suspects.
