New PNP battalions vs terrorists, rebels; new IS plan uncovered

- By FRED M. LOBO

PRESIDENT Duterte has ordered the formation of another five battalions of police commandos and an all-out war against communist rebels and terrorists in Mindanao.

DU30’s message: Protect the people, preserve the state.

*** Meanwhile, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) disclosed that the Islamic State plans another Marawi-type siege in Mindanao.

Stop them from creating another trouble.

*** PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said the President personally gave him the instruction to form five more Special Action Forces (SAF) battalions to do battle with communist rebels and terrorists.

“He (Duterte) told me to form another five battalions. So we will be adding five more battalions of Special Action Force,” Dela Rosa said.

*** De la Rosa said Duterte’s latest directive is in addition to the five battalions he had earlier ordered formed after the recent salary increase for cops and soldiers. Ten battalions of 500 cops each.

*** Dela Rosa said that the SAF is an elite force of the PNP that is being used in counter-insurgency and anti-terrorism operations.

They are provided with modern equipment and good training, he added.

*** “So this will be an all-out war in our problem against the NPA (New People’s Army) and terrorism,” Dela Rosa said.

New cops should be trained better.

The PNP chief said that he will be recruiting more personnel over and above the some 5,000 policemen the PNP recruits every year to do regular police works. Bato: The more the merrier.

*** The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) added it is also preparing to do battle with communist rebels and terrorists, especially in Mindanao. Soldiers never say die…

*** Meanwhile, a top official of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front disclosed that some idealistic fighters inspired by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria plan to lay siege on another city in Mindanao.

Time for better intelligence and pre-emptive operations. No to another Marawi.
