Albert-Kito tandem wins Sta. Elena Cup

Becky Albert and Ikoku Kito claimed the overall net plum while Aian Arcilla and King Stehmeier emerged the low gross winners in the recent Sta. Elena Cup, the member-guest tournament of the Sta Elena Golf Club in Cabuyao, Laguna.

Albert's 78 and Kito's 72 gave them a 150 for 36 holes, beating Rico Brizuela and Rodel Mangulabna­n for the top plum in the event highlighte­d by holesin-one made by Rommel Aquino and Danilo Dimayuga.

Aian Arcilla (61) and King Stehmeier (67) captured the coveted low gross award.

It was Aquino who won the biggest prize driving home the Lexus IS350 worth at least P2.7 million for his holein-one on the very first day.

Aquino aced the 197-yard 17th hole with a Titleist 915 3-wood and a Titleist 2 NXT ball playing in the afternoon batch.

The 82-year-old Dimayuga followed suit with his ace on the 14th hole in the final round that won win a Club Car golf cart and P100,000 cash from MAA Insurance.

Sponsors of the event were Omega, Lexus, Royal Caribbean/Baron Travel/ Symphony of the Seas, Integrated Computer Systems, Inc., MAA General Assurance, Bertazzoni, Pacific Links Golf Developmen­t, Inc., Sta Elena Properties, Vision Express, Primal Enterprise­s/Mag1/Sunbloc, Club Car, Kart Plaza/Yamaha, Peerless Mfg/ Champion, Chivas Regal and Novelino wines.

Brizuela's son, Arnold, and his partner Fischer Chua finished three points behind at second in Class A with their 147. The other winners were Amy Ward/Jerry Florendo (143) who beat John Casey/Art Zuluaga (141) in Class B with the Class C crown going to Andy Co/Michael Go (145) who beat Dindo Pineda/Adriano Job by two.

Individual awards went to Abe Rosal for the overall individual gross with his 71 and Bobby Lim (81) for the overall individual net.

Round 1 Best Gross was posted by Teody Pascual (39) and Rosa (36) for Round 2. Round 1 Best Net was Becky Albert (44) and Nolet Otayza (43) for Round 2.
