- By MERLINA HERNANDO-MALIPOT

The Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday announced that teachers and non-teaching personnel in seven regions are currently receiving their 2016 Performance Based Bonus (PBB).

DepEd, in a statement issued in Filipino, said that teachers and staff of the Division Offices in Regions 1, 2, 3, 4A, 5, 11, and 12 have started receiving their PBBs.

As of March 16, teaching and nonteaching staff from a total of 12,939 schools in 90 schools division offices (SDOs) have received their respective PBB.

The DepEd said that PBBs in Pateros, Taguig and Paranaque is expected to be released this week.

The release of PBBs of teachers and non-teaching staff in Makati, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Pasay, San Juan, and Valenzuela started last March 15, DepEd added.

For Regions 8, 9, 10, CAR and NCR, DepEd said that that their approved ranking reports have been endorsed to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Regional Office for the processing of funds.

The ranking reports of Regions 4B, 6, and NIR, on the other hand, are currently being processed by DBM Central Office while the hard copies of the report ranking the Region 7 has not yet been received by the DepEd Central Office.

Amid concerns on the delay of the release of the 2016 PBB, DepEd assured teachers and non-teaching personnel that it is exhausting possible means to ensure that they will get this incentive mandated by the government.

DepEd also issued clarification on the delay of the PBB and explained the process needed to release the said incentive.

Based on Executive Order No. 80, series 2012 (EO 80, s. 2012), PBB is “a top-up incentive given to personnel of bureaus or delivery unit in accordance to their contribution to the accomplishment of their department’s overall targets and commitments.”
