BAGUIO CITY — About R1 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants were uprooted and burned in the hinterlands of Tinglayan, Kalinga this past week.

Operatives from the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO) swooped down on three separate cannabis plantations in Barangay Bugnay in Tinglayan.

The PPO said 1,000 fully-grown marijuana plants were uprooted in Sitio Ayyum; 1,200 more in Sitio Pukas; and 1,600 in Sitio Makilo.

The uprooted marijuana plants were burned on site along with 4,800 marijuana seedlings planted in a 950-square-meter land.

The Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) estimated the total worth of marijuana plantations at least R952,000.

However, the PPO said its operatives did not catch any of the cultivators, who had abandoned the plantation during the raid.
