Masked gunman kills man watching tv in his house

Aman watching television on a Friday night was gunned down by an unidentifi­ed man wearing a mask and black jacket who barged into his house in Quezon City. The gunshots also wounded a 16-year old boy.

Investigat­ors of the Quezon City Police District identified the fatality as Christian De Belen, 27, a resident of Barangay San Agustin, Novaliches, Quezon City.

Melody, the victim’s live-in partner, said she was watching television with De Belen and her 16-year-old brother “Mike” inside their house along Betsayda Street at around 9:30 p.m. when a man clad in black jacket and wearing face mask barged in.

Upon seeing De Belen, the man pulled out his handgun and repeatedly shot De Belen before escaping the scene.

Melody told the police that the man boarded a motorcycle driven by a companion who was with two other men also riding a motorbike.

De Belen who slumped bloodied on the floor and “Mike” who was hit by stray bullets on his right arm and his back were rushed to Novaliches District Hospital.

However, De Belen succumbed to gunshot wounds in his body while “Mike” was later discharged after medical treatment.

Seven empty shells of unknown type of handgun were recovered at the crime scene.

Further investigat­ion is underway to locate and arrest the suspects.
