PRE-MED SUMMIT 2018

-

Now on its second year, the PreMedical Summit welcomed 200 participants from all over the metro with breakout sessions to affiliate the high school students with some of the various courses available – Biology, Chemistry, Community Nutrition, Family Life and Child Development, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Psychology, Public Health, and Sports Science.

Three main workshops – Basic First Aid, Suturing 101, and the Dexterity Test were also held. To wrap up the summit, two notable speakers gave their messages to the students –Dr. Gideon Lasco, one of the only few medical anthropologists in the Philippines, and Dr. Gerardo “Gap” Legaspi, the current UP-PGH Director.

The Pre-Medical Summit is truly a perfect avenue to encourage students about planning for their future, not just broadening one’s knowledge of the different sciences that go into medicine, but also repainting the picture of a doctor to more than just someone wearing a white coat. It is the hope of the organizers that whatever path these young minds end up choosing, they would remember to serve the Filipino people with passion, competence, and integrity.
