Robbers slain

UNISAN, Quezon – Two suspects were killed while trying to escape a police dragnet after they allegedly robbed a national high school here, and wounded a security guard in Barangay Caigdal, Saturday night. Sr. Insp. Milo Tabernilla, Unisan police chief, said authoritie­s received informatio­n at around 9:30 p.m. that the Caigdal National High School was burglarize­d and that the security guard on-duty, Marlon Marino, was shot by unidentifi­ed armed men. In the follow-up operation, police were able to catch up with the suspects and, after a brief exchange of gunfire, were killed. However, one of the other suspects was able to escape and was last seen heading to a mountainou­s portion of the village, and is now subject of a manhunt. ( Danny J. Estacio)
