DAVAO CITY – Seven people were hurt when two rival supporters of different candidates for barangay captain figured in a rumble, Saturday night, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said.

Chief Insp. Teresita Gaspan said two persons, one of them a passing pedestrian, were hit by bullets in the ensuing commotion.

The police said a group supporting incumbent Barangay Chairman Alemudin and another rooting for candidate Amel Bangsa Manding crossed paths in Barangay 23-C in Purok 3, Zonta Isla Verde, at around 7 p. m. Saturday.

A heated argument led to a fisticuff, which escalated into an exchange of gunfire.

Alcon Camalia Ebrahim was just passing by when he was shot in the right hand.

Manding’s supporter Alibaser Manding Cabuntalan and Usman’s backer Abdul Amar Asis were wounded in the melee.
