The peso closed lower at ₱52.19 to the US dollar Friday from ₱51.80 the previous day. The weighted average rate depreciated to ₱52.098 from ₱51.887. Total volume amounted to $1.125.9 billion. The local currency gained on Thursday when the central bank raised interest rates for the first time in four years. (Reuters)
