President Duterte beamed with pride as he attended his granddaughter Isabelle’s senior high graduation rites at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City Thursday morning.

Isabelle, daughter of former Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, graduated under the Humanities and Social Sciences strand of San Beda College-Alabang.

She shared an Instagram video showing her in a red graduation gown seated beside a smiling President and other family members.

“President Rodrigo Duterte attended the graduation rites of granddaughter Isabelle Lovelie Duterte held at the Philippine International Convention Center on Thursday, May 17,” the Palace press statement read.

“Isabelle, daughter of former Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, was among the first batch of senior high school graduates of San Beda College Alabang,” it added.

Isabelle’s parents Paolo and Lovelie Sangkola-Sumera also attended the graduation ceremony.

Meantime, Vice President Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo left for the United States yesterday to attend the graduation of her eldest daughter, Aika, from Harvard University.

Aika, 30, will graduate on May 24 at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge, Massachusetts as an Edward S. Mason fellow.

The Vice President has been looking forward to her trip to reunite with her eldest daughter, who has been in the US for a year for her graduate studies.

Aika, or Jessica Marie, is the eldest daughter of the Vice President and the late interior secretary Jesse Robredo.

They have two other daughters − Tricia, a medical student in Ateneo, and Jillian, an incoming college freshman. (with a report from Raymund F. Antonio)
