Woman drags own daughter into cyberporn

- By LESLEY VESTIL

SAN FERNANDO, Cebu – A team from the police and International Justice Mission (IJM) arrested a woman in Barangay Sangat, this town, Wednesday on allegations she was making her daughter and two other underage girls appear in a cyberporn site frequented by pedophiles.

Sr. Supt. Romeo Perigo, Chief of Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) said the 15-year-old daughter was rescued with the other minors.

The mother, whose name was being withheld to protect the identity of the minors, is denying the allegations. But Perigo said police have been tracking her activities since April and building up a case against her.

An entrapment was arranged in which an undercover officer paid the woman P2500 to 3500 in exchange for the minors’ naked photos and videos.

Perigo said the team is still trying to find out the woman’s foreign or local contacts.

IJM Cebu Field Office Director John Tanagho said the woman found cyberporn to be lucrative.

The rescued minors were placed in the protective custody of the DSWD and will undergo psychosocial intervention, including therapy and rehabilitation, Magpale said.

Perigo named six areas in Cebu where cyberporn could be flourishing: Bogo, Talisay, Santa Fe, Maderidejos, Cordova and San Fernando.
