TAGBILARAN CITY – Bohol Gov. Edgar Chatto urged local government units in the province to be more vigilant against terrorism following Tuesday’s clash between government forces and the New People’s Army (NPA).

Chatto underscored the importance of information provided by the communities in helping security forces battle terror groups such as the NPA.

A statement released on Thursday by the Effective Developmental Communication Unit (Edcom) of the provincial capitol said the information provided by the people can be vital in tracking the guerrillas involved in the skirmish.

The interior towns of Bilar, Batuan, Sevilla, and Balilihan’s Hanopol area are potential exit points for the rebels who are now on the run.

Chatto challenged Boholanos to remain united in the face of another problem regarding the peace and order situation in the province.

"There is no need to be alarmed because this is a small group, but let us all be more vigilant to keep the peace and security we already enjoy," Chatto said in a statement. (Dave Albarado)
