Cavite cops kill re­sort rob sus­pect

CAMP GAR­CIA, Cavite — A rob­bery sus­pect was killed by po­lice in a shootout be­fore dawn yes­ter­day in Barangay Amuy­ong in the up­land mu­nic­i­pal­ity of Al­fonso.

The still uniden­ti­fied sus­pect died on the spot from bul­let wounds in the body.

Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Wil­liam M. Se­gun, Cavite Po­lice Pro­vin­cial Of­fice di­rec­tor, said that the sus­pect was one of a group of men who broke and robbed the units at Se­cret Gar­den Re­sort, also in Amuy­ong, be­fore noon Wed­nes­day.

The group en­tered the units by scaling the re­sort's iron fence.

Se­gun said that the sus­pect and his group re­sisted a lo­cal po­lice drag­net put up for them in Amuy­ong at 3 a.m. Thurs­day.

The po­lice team was forced to shoot the sus­pect when he fired his gun dur­ing the pur­suit. The sus­pect’s com­pan­ions es­caped.

Re­cov­ered from the slain sus­pect were a .38 cal. re­volver, R15,000 cash, sev­eral com­mu­ni­ca­tion gad­gets, a hand­bag, per­fume, room keys and other per­sonal be­long­ings which were be­lieved taken from the re­sort 's units.
