Caraga cops alerted as ‘Domeng’ dumps rains
CAMP COLONEL RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – All field units of the Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional office 13 (PRO 13) in the five provinces and six cities in Caraga region were alerted to assist residents who may be affected by flashfloods and landslides due to rains brought about by tropical depression “Domeng.”
Chief Supt. Noli A. Romana, regional director of PRO 13 based here also said all field unit commanders were directed to closely monitor all critical areas prone to floods and landslides in their respective areas and be ready to extend their helping hands to ensure the safety of the residents in their respective areas of responsibility (AORs).
The region’s police chief also ordered all police units in the region to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations to the affected areas.
PNP personnel trained in search and rescue have been deployed and logistical assets mobilized since Tuesday to help the affected residents.
“We encourage everyone to prepare and be vigilant as weather disturbance will continue to bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains,” he said.
“The PNP Caraga, Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC), local government units and other government agencies are working hand in hand to ensure the safety and security of the people,” the region’s police chief added.
The RDRRMC already alerted since Monday all DRRMCs spread all over the region for any untoward incident.
