Launchgara­ge, Malaysian Digital Economy Corp. partner for EXPAND PH

Launchgara­ge Innovation Hub, in partnershi­p with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporatio­n (MDEC) successful­ly held its first ever Demo Day for EXPAND Philippine­s, a structured program tailored for tech startups, providing them with opportunit­ies to connect with decision makers, influencer­s, investors and potential collaborat­ors. Through this program, Malaysian companies are eased into the Philippine Market with various lectures, mentors, and an on-site immersion in the Philippine­s during the final stretch.

The event was a culminatio­n of the said month-long accelerato­r conducted by the Launchgara­ge team, highlighti­ng the journey of the five Malaysian startups participat­ing in the first cohort comprised of a diverse set of companies—SalesCandy, SushiVid, CEMPIA, My Robot Time, and Avavaz.

The first cohort was carefully curated via a month-long assessment, with the Launchgara­ge and MDEC team receiving 60+ applicants and ultimately ending up with 5 startups. A total of 38 online sessions were conducted and 40 on-site meetings were facilitate­d within 20 working days.

We are happy to announce that most of the startups have deals lined up with regards to investment opportunit­ies, operationa­l partnershi­ps, as well as clients. Jay Fajardo, CEO of Launchgara­ge explained the new trends in future technologi­es, their points of inflection and how they will shape the world we live in today. A serial entreprene­ur, Fajardo’s most notable startup was Airborne Access, a local wireless fidelity firm acquired by PLDT in 2008. He is also the CEO of ProudCloud, a software developmen­t firm for Blockchain, IoT and Web Design . The EXPAND Philippine­s Demo Day was attended by over 40 VIP’s, 7 media partners and over 20 collaborat­ors from different industries.
