LTO launches online payment system for transactions

- By ALEXANDRIA DENNISE SAN JUAN

The Land Transportation Office formally launched Friday its online-based banking system where the public can pay all their LTO-related transactions through an electronic payment portal.

The new payment feature was included in LTO's online personal appointment and scheduling system (PASS) where the public may book appointments for the application or renewal of driver's licenses.

This facility, which uses the electronic payment portal of the Landbank of the Philippine (LBP), further expands LTO's online offerings and allows dealers to conduct payment assessments as well as actual payments over the web.

"LTO clients may now pay for all new registration transactions remotely through the online system initially in Metro Manila for a minimal transaction fee of P10 per approved transaction," LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante said during the launching ceremony in Quezon City.

Galvante said that the e-Payment Portal eliminates several steps in the payment process which would make payment faster, easier and more convenient.

Through the online payment feature, Galvante said that possible instances of corruption in the payment process can be removed as there will be less human intervention.

Meanwhile, LTO-National Capital Region director Atty. Clarence Guinto said that they already deployed 28 new sites to augment the four LTO PASS pilot-test work stations.

Aside from LTO-Marikina, Muntinlupa, Novaliches and Pasig, the additional stations to be installed with the Appointment System are Caloocan District Office, Caloocan Licensing Office, La Loma District Office, Las Piñas, Makati, Makati Licensing Office, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Manila East, Manila West, Manila Licensing Office, Manila North, Manila South, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasay Licensing Office, Quezon City District Office, Quezon City Renewal Licensing Office, Quezon Extension Office, San Juan, Taguig, Valenzuela and Public Utility Vehicle Renewal Center and Extension offices.

Aside from the ePayment Portal, the LTO earlier launched LTO Online PASS, LTO Kiosk with MV Renewal Facility, and LTO Text and Mobile Query Tool.

Also attending the grand launching were DOTr Usec. for Road Transport and Infrastructure Tim Orbos, Usec. for Finance Garry de Guzman, as well as LTFRB Board Members Ronaldo Corpus and Atty. Aileen Lizada.
