Security guard killed over shift duty

- By HANS AMANCIO

A brawl over shift of duties led to the death of a man after his fellow security guard allegedly stabbed him to death, a belated police report said.

Case investigator PO1 Danilo Kabigting identified the victim as Jetson Cabarles, 20, of Iloilo.

Kabigting bared that on June 12 at around 1:30 p.m., the victim and the suspect identified as Jhonny Killa, 29, of Kalinga, were arguing inside their apartment in Paco, Manila.

Cabarles reportedly confronted Killa for not taking over his duty as the second shift security guard at WWWExpress located at Quirino Avenue, Pandacan, Manila, according to Kabigting.

Cabarles then reportedly picked up a sharp metal object and stabbed Killa on the right cheek. Killa, however, managed to pick up a kitchen knife, which resulted to a chase that reached Mendiola Extension.

The victim reportedly reached 1120 Condominium Residence and went to the second floor. The building's security guard told police that he saw the suspect attacked and stabbed the victim to death.

Personnel of the building apprehended the suspect and brought him to the Pandacan Police Station.

Cabarles was brought to the Philippine General Hospital where he succumbed to multiple stab wounds.

Homicide charges will be filed against the suspect, Kabigting said.
