- By FREDDIE VELEZ

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Davao City Mayor Sara “Inday” Duterte-Carpio had a piece of advice to 3,000 new graduates of the Bulacan State University (BSU) at the Bulacan Gymnasium, here, last Wednesday: Don’t rush into marriage and family.

Mayor Duterte or “Inday Sara” as she is fondly called was the honored guest and speaker at the BSU graduation rites for the 3,000 who finished courses of Criminology, Legal management, Nursing, Mass Communication and Sciences.

“Now that you all have graduated, do not be in a hurry in being married or in a rush of having children of your own. Do not forget to express gratitude to your parents. Prioritize them later, after the graduation, hug your parents, tap them on the back and whisper, ‘Ma, Pa, Thank you’,” she said.

Inday Sara said that instead of thinking about marriage or having children, the new graduates can focus their attention on making their dreams come true and make the best out of themselves in their respective professions.

She also called on parents to provide their children with sound advice as they will need it.

The Davao City Mayor was joined by Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado,Vice Governor Daniel R. Fernando and Bulacan First District Representative Jose Antonio R. Sy-Alvarado in advising the new graduates to be determined to achieve one’s goals in life, be flexible and open-minded, and allow God to direct their lives.
