Pinoy, Aussie troops end training in Panay
ILOILO CITY—The Philippine Army and the Australian Defense Force wrapped up their joint training in Panay Island.
The Philippine–Australian Army Combined Urban Operations Training was conducted at Camp Peralta, headquarters of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID), in Jamindan town, Capiz.
“The training intended to enhance the knowledge, interoperability, tactics, techniques, and procedures of the participants on combined urban operations,” said Brig. Gen. Francisco Delfin, 3ID assistant division commander.
“It also strengthened the bilateral relationship between the armed forces of the two nations,” Delfin added.
One of the highlights of the joint training was the 20minute capability demonstration carried out by Operation Control (OPCON) units of both armed forces.
While majority of the training sessions were supervised by the Land Advisory Team from the Joint Task Group 629, majority of instructors came from 3ID. These instructors underwent training during the Philippines-Australia Army to Army Exercise last March.
Soldiers from 3ID that participated in the urban operations training included the 53rd Engineering Brigade; the 6th Light Armor Company; Mechanized Infantry Division, 3rd Field Artillery Battalion; and Army Artillery Regiment.
