Coco clarifies ‘viral kiss’ with Yassi, reveals more on his MMFF movie

- By CHRISTELLE JOYCE F. PEREZ

Coco Martin’s response when asked about his love life almost sounds like a template but he really is just being honest. “For now, love life is not my priority especially since I’m still doing a soap opera,” he said in Filipino. “Maybe when I’m 40. I’m 36 now so four more years.” The actor said he’s not closing his doors on romance though he believes there’s a right time for that will come. Well, really, for almost three years now, Coco’s teleserye “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” which was adapted from Fernando Poe Jr.’s film, has taken much of his time – and the hearts of Pinoy viewers worldwide. According to the actor, he will do the show as long as viewers still watch it.

Netizens went wild recently when the actor was linked to leading lady Yassi Pressman. He clarified the “viral kiss” with the actress.

“It was just a friendly kiss, they just made a big deal out of it. I feel happy, though, because it means the people are patronizing our show and our love team. I feel so proud,” the actor said.

On his upcoming movie with Vic Sotto tentatively titled “Popoy En Jack: The Puliscredibles,” he said, “It’s my concept and story. But we collaborate on how to make the action more compelling and make people enjoy the film.”

Asked about the movie’s title and possible leading lady, the actor said they’re still finalizing those things.

So, he will go up against his good friend, fellow Kapamilya actor Vice Ganda? Note that the latter’s starrer “Fantastica: The Princesses, The Prince And The Perya” has also made it to this year’s MMFF.

It’s all just work, no competition, Coco said to that effect.

Anyway, the actor is grateful for all the projects and endorsements he has as these are fruits of his hard works. He’s been brand ambassador of King Cup Sardines for three years now.

He recalled how hard it was for him in the beginning.

“I started from nothing,” he said. “From being an extra, a talent until I got into the Indie (independent films) world, then TV and now mainstream.”

Coco doesn’t tire of working because he’s always known his purpose as an actor.

“Even back then, I didn’t think about how big or small the amount of money I get for my work. I just want to make people happy and to inspire them.”
