Resto rob gang leader killed

BACOOR CITY, Cavite — A man tagged by police as the alleged leader of a robbery gang that strikes at restaurants was killed before dawn Monday in a running gun battle with police along Aguinaldo Highway, Barangay Panapaan IV, here. Suspect Roldan Maiso died on-the-spot due to multiple bullet wounds in the body as he attempted to escape by commandeering an AlabangZapote passenger jeepney in front of a gasoline station on the highway. Senior Superintendent William M. Segun, Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, said Maiso was a former security guard who became the leader of a bandit group that robs customers of restaurants in the city. Two other companions of Maiso reportedly escaped in the middle of the shootout at 1:15 a.m. Monday. (Anthony Giron)
