Siargao quake
BUTUAN CITY - A moderately strong tectonic earthquake with a strength of 4.9 magnitude rocked the island of Siargao Monday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said. In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the earthquake hit Burgos town, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte at 8:47 p.m. on Monday, July 2. The epicenter was plotted 56 kilometers northeast of Burgos town, with a depth of 17 km. (Mike U. Crismundo)
