Siargao quake

BUTUAN CITY - A moderately strong tectonic earthquake with a strength of 4.9 magnitude rocked the island of Siargao Monday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanolog­y and Seismology (Phivolcs) said. In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the earthquake hit Burgos town, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte at 8:47 p.m. on Monday, July 2. The epicenter was plotted 56 kilometers northeast of Burgos town, with a depth of 17 km. (Mike U. Crismundo)
