- By RAYMUND F. ANTONIO

‘Nagsalita ang magaling (Look who’s talking)” Vice Presidential legal adviser Barry Gutierrez quipped in response to President Duterte’s scathing remark that Vice President Leni Robredo is ill-equipped to lead the country due to incompetence.

The President commented about Robredo’s ability to lead the country after she agreed to leasd the opposotion.

Gutierrez, who is an ex-Akbayan party-list representative, trumped up the woes gripppng the nation under the duterte administration, such as the 9-year high inflation, rising prices of basic goods and the depreciation of the peso.

He also cited the country’s other woes such as worsening traffic, killings, and the government’s supposed inability to defend national sovereignty.

“Inflation: 5.2%. Bigas: R42/kilo. $1 = R53.51. Dagdag sa pambansang utang: R1.19T. Sariling karagatan: bawal sa Pinoy. Trapik: Palala pa. Patayan, tila araw araw na lang. Incompetent? Nagsalita ang magaling (Inflation: 5.2%. Rice: R42/kilo. $1 = R53.51. Additional national debt: P1.19T. Filipinos barred entry in own maritime territories. Traffic: Worsening. Killings, it seemingly happens everyday. Incompetent? Look who’s talking.),” he in a social media post.

“I don’t think she can ever be ready to govern a country. Reason? Incompetence,” Duterte said in Clark, Pampanga.

“She is not capable of running a country like the Philippines.”

In the same interview with reporters, Duterte said he would not resign just so she would become president.

If he ever does, it would be “for the people, so they can choose who they want.”

Robredo said she agreed to lead the opposition after her last week’s meeting with various groups opposing Duterte.

“Several groups have the same beliefs and issues they want to oppose, but because they don’t speak to each other, they are not united with their voices. And this is the role I want to take,” she said.
