More than 26,000 applications for voter registrations have been received so far by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The Comelec said local Offices of Election Officers (OEOs) in Metro Manila have already received a total of 26,856 applications in the first week of the registration period from July 2 to 7.

“(They were) applications for registration, transfer, reactivation, change of entry, and reinstatement of records that were received in the NCR,” the poll body said in a statement.

Of that number, 15,579 were females and 11,277 were males.

Data provided by the poll body also revealed that Caloocan City (1st District) received the highest number of applications with 1,518; followed by Makati City (2nd District) with 1,442; and Pasay City (2nd District) with 1,223.

The system of continuing registration for the May 2019 National and Local polls started July 2 and will run until September 29, 2018.

According to the poll body, applications shall be personally filed at the Offices of the Election Officer (OEOs) of the city, district, or municipality where the applicant resides, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays.

During the period, Comelec will also conduct satellite registrations on barangays, public plazas, schools, and other public places where people can register.
