Foreign experts showcase how to reinvent retail at NRCE 2018

At least nine foreign experts will share their experience­s and fresh insights on the global retailing landscape at the 25th National Retail Conference and Stores Asia Expo (NRCE) 2018 slated on August 9-10 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

NRCE 2018 overall chairman Frederick D. Go said the Philippine Retailers Associatio­n (PRA) Conference Committee carefully picked the speakers in this year’s edition of the retail conference, to make sure the attendees will fully grasp the message of the theme “Reinventin­g Retail.”

“This is a call to action for us in the retail industry. We are aware of the need to innovate further amid the digital disruption and the ever-changing global retail landscape,” added Go, the PRA vice chairman and president of Robinsons Recreation Corporatio­n.

NRCE 2018 Conference chairman and Rustans Commercial Corporatio­n president Bienvenido “Donnie” V. Tantoco III stressed the need to make retailers fully aware of the challenges and opportunit­ies brought about by what is now known as digital disruption. “Disruption is not always negative, especially if you know how to adapt and reinvent yourself side by side with the changes that are taking place on the technologi­cal front.”

Wijnand Jongen, a globally recognized author, futurist and authority on retail and e-commerce, will lead the Day 1 speakers, He will keynote the start of plenary sessions. Jongen is co-founder and chairman of the Executive Committee of E-commerce Europe, the European e-commerce umbrella organizati­on with over 75,000 members. He also authored the bestsellin­g book “The End of Online Shopping: the future of retail in a world that is always connected.” The annual NRCE is acknowledg­ed as the biggest and most important retail event in the Philippine­s. Its 2018 edition will simultaneo­usly take place with the only focused and dedicated retail suppliers’ expo showcasing the "tools for global retailing" from over 100 exhibitors offering products and solutions for the retail industry such as Retail Solutions, E-Commerce & M-Commerce, Shop Fittings & Store Designs, Digital Marketing, Commercial and Real Estate Developers, Logistics, Web Developers, Non-traditiona­l Advertisin­g,, Storage and Distributi­on, HR Solutions, and Billboard Locations among others.

The Stores Asia Expo, the biggest in the Philippine­s and one of the longest running retail suppliers’ expo in Asia, expects to draw more than 3,000 visitors and decision makers from the retail and related industries.
