Mobile insurance company AmTrust optimistic on PH operations
Malaysia-based mobile insurance provider Amtrust is optimistic on expanding their operation in the Philippines as they seek to establish partnerships with retailers and smartphone manufacturers.
Among its wide array of businessto-customer and business-to-business solutions include providing insurance and theft coverage for consumer electronic gadgets as well as home appliances.
“AmTrust is a provider of insurance products focusing more on electronic gadgets like smartphones, tablets. The mission is to provide total life cycle care for clients. When a customer, from a moment of purchase, if their gadgets get damaged or stolen, for things outside the one or two year warranty period, we cover them,” said Felix Antonio, AmTrust Philippines Marketing Head.
“There are millions per year of smartphones being sold in the Philippine but the Filipino market is not yet well-versed in taking care of their product and enjoying it to the fullest,” he added.
In an interview with the Manila Bulletin Tech News, AmTrust Regional Sales and Business Development Director Adam Bernasek said that they are eyeing to cover half a million clients in the Philippines by the end of the year, which they aim to achieve by sealing more partnerships.
“We have around 150,000 policies per month, and our target is around half a million policies signed every month by the end of this year,” Bernasek noted.
“We are preparing to start cooperation with retailers nationwide. We already partnered with Memoxpress, SM Appliances, and Robinson’s. We will continue with other retailers,” he added.
He mentioned that they are also working with smartphone manufacturers to have the AmTrust insurance solution a standard when people buy their products.
“We’d like to have it standardized for customers. Meaning if a customer buys a cellphone, it will come already bundled with protection.”
He said that they are targeting four out of 10 smartphone sold in the Philippines to be equipped with their insurance solutions.
AmTrust local partners include smartphone manufacturers like Samsung, Vivo, Oppo, and Huawei, telecommunications companies, banks, and financing companies like Home Credit, with operations mainly in Manila, Davao, and Mindanao. (Jonnah Pante)
