DU30 keeps ‘very good’ rating; berates scalawags; OKs Nat’l ID system
PRESIDENT Duterte has kept his “very good” public satisfaction rating and has reaffirmed his vow to curb the country’s problems and bring a comfortable life to Filipinos.

*** Duterte, called police scalawags to Malacanang grounds and gave them a dressing down for alleged involvement in criminal activities.
The Punisher could have even “undressed” the scalawags by removing their uniform until they are cleared of charges.
*** Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque welcomed the recent survey results of the Social Weather Stations (SWS), saying “regardless of the criticisms against the President, the public has given the President a very good satisfaction rating,”

“Notwithstanding this rating which SWS classified as very good, the President remains focused on his promise to the Filipino people and he has rolled up his barong to fight drugs, criminality and corruption and bring comfortable life to all Filipinos,” Roque added.

*** The SWS said its survey conducted last June showed that 72 percent of the respondents were satisfied with the performance of the government, 15 percent were undecided, and 13 percent were dissatisfied.
Net public satisfaction rating stands at +58 or “very good,” better than last month’s “good” only, SWS added.

Roque said the President’s high public satisfaction rating can be attributed to his tireless public service, citing programs on free irrigation, free tuition in state colleges and universities, free wi-fi, and national feeding program.
“The President is not yet through. There will be more benefits waiting for the nation,” Roque assured.
*** House Appropriations Committee Chairman Davao City 1st district Rep. Karlo Nograles cited the Duterte administration for helping accomplish legislative tasks that have been previously deemed as “Mission Impossible,” such as the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) and the National Identification (ID).
“These measures had previously experienced rough sailing in both houses of Congress. The National ID law, for example, was first proposed over 20 years ago but never saw the light of day; the BOL, on the other hand, has been the subject of intense debate for several congresses,” Nograles pointed out.
*** “One could say that passing these bills was Mission Impossible.But when the President threw his support behind these measures by certifying them as urgent, Congress acted and what was once Mission Impossible is now Mission Accomplished,”Nograles said.

*** Meanwhile, Defense Sec. DelfinLorenzana said the new ID system signed by the President will greatly help in the ongoing campaign against terrorism and criminality.
“The system will also allow improved distribution of aid to legitimate disaster victims,” he added.
*** “(And) while we welcome the beneficial effects of this law on law enforcement operations, we assure the public that individual privacy will be respected,” Lorenzana said.
