Business, innovation collide at Franchise Asia Convention 2018
Considered as one of the largest local business conference, the Franchise Asia Convention 2018 gathered around 60,000 attendees from the business and franchising industry from 44 countries around the world, serving as a testament of how big the franchising industry has grown.
Speaking in front of business owners of “emerging concepts,” Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Alegria S. Limjoco said that the Franchise Asia Convention is a testimony of how big the middle class have grown.
“Franchise Asia is definitely an inspiration for us as to where we are going. Our country is in a sweet spot that means positive growth,” Limjoco said.
The three-day event held in the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City also served as a link for local franchise owners to connect with foreign franchise brands, helping them to expand their market reach.
Among the “emerging concepts” are tech- and innovation-driven startups from the food and beverages and the medical industry, among others. These include locally-founded startup businesses under franchising consultancy company FranCorp.
The Franchise Asia Convention 2018 also targeted to raise three billion pesos of new franchise investments, according to FranCorp Chief Marketing Officer Sam Christopher Lim.
“This is the biggest franchise show Asia has ever seen. I hope that a lot of those three billion in new franchise investment go to the FranCorp clients, because we know that they are the ones who will be making jobs, creating brands, and eventually planting the stores of Filipino brands around the world,” Lim said.
