After more than two decades in the entertainment industry, seasoned actor Piolo Pascual is adamant that “Since I Found You” is the last teleserye of his career. “I’ve been doing this (teleserye thing) for 20 years and it’s taxing, it’s physically exhausting,” he explained. “It’s time to diversify.” He means doing content for other formats, particularly cinema here and beyond. “I wanna focus on what I can still do as a film actor, to be able to have more output that we can share with the community in the world. Maybe in the region… starting in the regions and eventually to the international market. I really wanna go beyond the Philippines in terms of our content,” he said. He revealed that through his independent film production firm Spring Films, which he founded, they are working on five movies with more to come.

Just recently, their first-ever entry to Cinemalaya Film Festival “Kuya Wes” made the cut. Their animated flick “Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story,” featuring the voices of Angelica Panganiban, Robin Padilla and Empoy Marquez, is set for release next year.

This month, Piolo is shooting in Mindanao for a movie about the Marawi siege. In November, he will do two more movies under the helm of Lav Diaz and Raya Martin, respectively.

Newfound friends

Despite “Since I Found You” ending tonight, the singer-producer is happy for all the memories and experiences he had in doing the series.

He plays the role of Nathan Capistrano. For the final episode, Nathan and Dani (Arci Muñoz) prove love can conquer any and every obstacle.

Making the most out of their second chance at love, Nathan and Dani have finally decided to build a future together after learning from their past mistakes.

The first time they were together, Nathan’s business problems affected their lives so much and even caused their split. Their relationship also reached its breaking point when Ginno (JC De Vera) tried to win Dani, while Nathan was suffering on his own as he saw the love his life slip away.

Piolo described his feeling about the show’s final episode as “bitter-sweet.” He is thankful to end on a high note, though.

“The energy on the set is light. So we started light, we gonna end light. So we’re just happy,” he explained. “It’s been a good ride.”

Piolo said he will surely miss the candid moments during break time with the people behind the show. But asked for a specific detail, he said he will miss Alessandra’s talkativeness and high energy.

According to him, she has become one of his closest friends from the time he produced the actress’ film “Kita Kita.”

“She has so many things to say about life. She’s really smart, very engaging, and really creative. I like that she was able to impart new ideas,” he said.

Personal

With all the things happening to him, the hunk actor said one of the things he lives by is striking while the iron is hot.

But aside from work, he is most grateful for the life he has.

“At the end of the day, it’s a choice on how can you juggle all these things all at the same time,” he related. “I’ve been married to my career for the last 20 years and I know there’s a time for everything. So I just don’t want to have too much on my plate. I’m just trying to be practical and just do the things I want to do and maybe later on.”

Will he give his son Iñigo a sibling, we asked.

“I got my son, I got my grandchild, and to have another offspring... I’d still wanna go out maybe for another year, go around and do things on my own before I think of settling down. I reached the point in my life that it’s not something I look for, it’s not something I want for now. I just want to enjoy the life that I have and travel and do different things.”
