-

POLOMOLOK, South Cotabato- A notorious drug trafficker who is facing murder charges for the killing of a rookie policeman was himself killed Thursday during a buy-bust operation here. Chief Inspector Alex Orcajada, Polomolok police chief, identified the suspect as Mudz Nilong, 25, who was killed after he shot it out with police operatives who conducted a drug entrapment operation in Barangay Lumakil here. Police recovered a .38 caliber revolver and several grams of “shabu” from the slain suspect. An unidentified cohort of Nilong managed to escape aboard a motorcycle. Police tagged Nilong as a local leader of the ISIS-inspired Ansar Khilafah Islamiyah which is also involved in illegal drug trade, gun-for-hire and carnapping activities. Nilong was tagged as suspect in the ambush-slaying of PO2 Charlie Liva, assigned with the Surallah municipal police station who was waylaid while driving his motorcycle along the national highway in Barangay Polonuling Tupi, South Cotabato on October 26, 2017.
