FedEx Express launches new Hanoi flights to give PH firms greater access

-

FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world's largest express transportation company, has enhanced its services into and out of the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, with the introduction of a new flight connecting the city to the FedEx APAC Hub in Guangzhou, China.

This new route will enable nextbusiness-day delivery from Hanoi to the Philippines, as well as to other key Asian markets, and improve transit times for all inbound flights to Hanoi for the first time. This new route uses a dedicated B757 freighter flying four times a week to and from Hanoi. Importers from the Philippines and other major business centers in Asia, including China, Singapore, and Malaysia, will have a transit time of just one business day for shipments coming from Vietnam. For all shipments to Hanoi, Vietnamese importers benefit from transit times being reduced by one business day.

"FedEx has been serving Vietnam since 1994 and was the first international express transportation company to operate its own flights into and out of the country,” said Karen Reddington, president, Asia Pacific, FedEx Express. “Today, Vietnam is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. We are seeing the rapid development of manufacturing and high-tech industries, a surge in e-commerce and a growing demand for healthcare services and products. The service enhancements delivered with this new flight will support the further development of businesses in Vietnam by giving them better, faster access to global markets.”

Vietnam is a key economic partner with the Philippines. Last year alone, the trade activities between the two markets amounted to a total of US$4 billion – a 22% increase from the previous year. Both countries are also each other’s fifth largest partner within Southeast Asia, and bilateral trade between the two are only expected to grow and progress further in the coming years.

To meet the dynamic market needs, FedEx continually adjusts its network and routings in Asia Pacific to strengthen its operations. In April, FedEx announced a new route connecting the FedEx APAC Hub in Guangzhou and the FedEx World Hub in Memphis. In January, FedEx officially opened its Shanghai International Express and Cargo Hub, the second international hub in China.
