Man jailed for trying to bribe QC cops to release brother
Aman was put behind bars after trying to bribe police officers for the release of his older brother who was arrested during a drug sting in Quezon City Thursday night.
Members of Quezon City Police District-La Loma Police Station (PS-1) under Superintendent Robert Sales identified the suspect as Jonathan Prodigalidad, 41, a resident of Barangay Sto. Domingo.
Prior to the incident, anti-illegal drug operatives of PS-1 arrested Prodigalidad's older brother, Isagani, 44, was arrested in a buy-bust operation near their house along Don Pepe Street in Barangay Sto. Domingo at around 8:30 p.m.
Police said that Isagani was a known drug peddler in his area prompting them to conduct an operation against him.
During the drug sting, police were able to recover six sachets of shabu from the suspect which resulted in his arrest.
Thirty minutes after, the younger Prodigalidad arrived at the police station and confronted the officers who arrested his brother.
During their confrontation, Jonathan offered a R25,000 cash to the policemen in exchange for the release of his brother.
However, the arresting officers did not accept the money and instead arrested him.
The two brothers are now under police custody.
Isagani is facing drug-related charges while Jonathan was charged with violation of Article 212 of the Revised Penal Code or the Corruption of Public Officials.
