DepEd reveals Teachers’ Month treats

- By MERLINA HERNANDO-MALIPOT

Aside from “Thank Yous” coming from their past and present students, the Department of Education (DepEd) said that various treats await teachers nationwide in celebration of the National Teachers’ Month (NTM) this September.

In recognition of teachers’ tireless dedication and unwavering commitment to service, the DepEd celebrates NTM from September 5 to October 5. With the theme, “Gurong Pilipino: Turo Mo, Kinabukasan Ko,” the celebration highlights the teachers’ invaluable contribution to the delivery of quality, accessible, relevant, and liberating basic education in the country.

Aside from enjoining all schools to conduct suggested activities such as asking students to write feature stories on their teachers and publish these either on the school paper or on local newspapers or broadsheets, DepEd also encourages schools to organize special activities to honor teachers for the month of September such as poster making and essay writing contests. Schools, DepEd added, may also organize cultural performances especially for teachers.
