Jasmine on being the ‘happy little sister’ of Anne

- By REGINA MAE PARUNGAO Big change

'My sister wants me to be there with her, but I want to be with GMA. I feel that with the Kapuso network, I’m in good leveling field that I won’t be pressured to keep the fame. I tend to be quiet here.'

Jasmine Curtis-Smith can hardly wait for her sister Anne CurtisHeussaff to be in the family way. “My sister hasn’t been saying anything about it yet. But they really look forward to it. I mean, they’re already married so having a baby is the next step for their family,” she told Bulletin Entertainment.

Anne will reportedly take a short break from show business next month to enjoy her long overdue honeymoon with husband Erwan Heussaff.

“I’m also excited for that because, we will never know! Maybe when they come back, they’ll give us the good news,” she enthused.

Does Jasmine want a nephew or a niece?

“Both?” she laughed. “I think it’s nice to have a girl, you know, kikay. But also our environment will change if she has a boy because for so long, we’ve been living with all girls.”

Jasmine shared she often advises her sister to take rest.

“She’s so adik when it comes to work. I told her, ‘You need to have time for your family. Be the Anne Curtis, who is a wife, a daughter, a woman. I hope she listens.”

Jasmine admitted she and boyfriend of three years, Jeff Ortega, are talking marriage.

So what’s keeping them from taking it a step further?

“Jeff is four years older than me and I understand that he’s already in the stage of family thing. But I think this is not right timing yet. I’m rebuilding my career and we talk about it and I say, ‘Can you give me time first? Let me just focus on my work for some time, then we’ll look forward to it,’” she explained.

Jasmine made a major career decision early this year by transferring to GMA Network.

Many were surprised with her move, knowing that Anne is with the rival network. Nevertheless, she considers it a leap of faith.

“To be honest, I had a hard time choosing. My sister wants me to be there with her, but I want to be with GMA. I feel that with the Kapuso network, I’m in good leveling field that I won’t be pressured to keep the fame. I tend to be quiet here,” she said.

Jasmine dismissed the notion she’s just avoiding comparison between her and Anne.

“We’re so different as a person,” she said.

Telling her that she’s more of an actress than Anne, Jasmine expressed gratefulness.

“I think acting is really my strength. But I can also say there’s one thing I don’t have that my sister has. She has the charm, she has the personality that captivates people,” she shared.

Known to be an indie actress, Jasmine has just finished three films.

One is “General Admission” helmed by Jeffrey Hidalgo. It is set for international release next year. Then there’s her Cinema One Originals film “Fisting,” with Meryll Soriano and Ricky Davao.

Last is “Maledicto,” which they submitted to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). If selected as finalist, Jasmine will go up against her sister’s starrer, “Aurora.” Back on small screen

We caught up with Jasmine on the set of GMA’s upcoming series “Pamilya Roces,” wherein she is Pearl Roces.

“I am part of the third family though I’m not really a Roces. So that’s where the conflicts began, because the original family didn’t want me to be part of everything,” she said about it. She described the role as “palaban

na ate.” Her peg? No less than Anne. “It’s nice because now I know the feeling of being an Ate. Like, you would do everything to protect her. You will not give up despite all the challenge, things like that,” she said.

The series is helmed by awarded director Joel Lamangan.

“This is my first time to work with Direk Joel Lamangan and it’s really overwhelming. I know how good he is, I appreciate everything he does for the show. I hope I am on his good,” she smiled.

“Pamilya Roces” premieres Oct. 8 on GMA Telebabad.

My sister wants me to be there with her, but I want to be with GMA. I feel that with the Kapuso network, I’m in good leveling field that I won’t be pressured to keep the fame. I tend to be quiet here.
