Alberto is new Army chief

Manila Bulletin - - National News - By FRANCIS T. WAKEFIELD

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) welcomed the designation of Major General Macairog Sabeniano Alberto as the next Commanding General of the Philippine Army (PA).

Alberto will replace outgoing Army chief Lieutenant General Rolando Joselito D. Bautista, who is set to retire from the military service on Monday, at the age of 56.

No less than President Duterte is expected to grace the turn-over ceremony to be held at the Philippine Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

In a statement, AFP Spokesman Brig Gen Edgard Arevalo said Alberto is a highly respected leader and commander, having distinguished himself in the field of combat, intelligence, and civil military operations in various echelons of the AFP hierarchy.

Arevalo added that Alberto is wellrespected among subordinates, peers, and more senior officers of the now more than 98,000 Army troopers.

"He is known for his dedicated, no non-sense, and passionate approach to mission accomplishment while ensuring the welfare of the men and women under his command," Arevalo said.
