The biggest jackpot in the country's lottery history was finally won on Sunday night by two lucky bettors from Legazpi City, Albay, and Borongan, Eastern Samar.

Alexander Balutan, PCSO general manager, said the two bettors will share the whopping R1,180, 622,508 Ultra Lotto 6/58 jackpot.

“I would like to congratulate our two lucky winners. The winning tickets were bought from the outlets of Lucky Circle Corp. in SM City Tahao Road, Legazpi City, Albay, and Limbauan St., Barangay H, Borongan, Eastern Samar,” Balutan announced.

On Sunday's draw (October 14), the winning combination for Ultra Lotto 6/58 was 40-50-37-25-01-45.

Twenty percent tax will be deducted from the big jackpot due to the TRAIN law. The government will, therefore, get R236, 124, 501. 6.

Each winner, once the 20 percent tax is deducted, will receive a total of R472, 249, 003. 2.

Before last Sunday's draw, the biggest jackpot bagged in the history of PCSO is the R741-million jackpot of Grand Lotto 6/55, which was won by a "balikbayan" on Nov. 29, 2010. He got the right combination of 11-16-42-47-31-37, Balutan said.

The Ultra Lotto 6/58 jackpot was last won in February 2018. Two bettors also won, sharing the R331,971,464 jackpot.

In claiming their prize, Balutan said the winners should bring two valid identification cards, and show the winning ticket to the prize claim section of the Accounting and Budget Department at the PCSO headquarters in Mandaluyong City.

After the validation, the Treasury Department will hand the winners cheques indicating the amount won. The winner can then go to any Land Bank of the Philippines branch either to encash the cheque or open a bank account.

One-day millionaires

The winners, meanwhile, were cautioned by the PCSO general manager not to become one-day millionaires, saying they should spend their winnings wisely and productively.

“Like (what) I always say, having a huge money, especially winning millions of pesos can change your outlook in life, lifestyle, and priorities. Mind your priorities. Don’t lose yourself. Keep something for yourself and for your family. Don’t become one-day millionaires. Spend your money wisely,” Balutan said.

Aside from the two jackpot winners, Balutan said 100 bettors will each get P169,930 for hitting five winning combinations correctly.

“That’s why we always tell our customers to keep their tickets. You might not win the six winning combinations, but you can still get five to three winning numbers correctly,” he said.
