1,600 cops deployed for ‘Undas’ in Caraga

CAMP Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez, Butuan City – The regional command of Northeaste­rn Mindanao Police Regional Office (PRO 13) deployed over 1,600 police personnel to cemeteries, churches, ports, bus terminals and other places of convergenc­e to secure the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.

Aside from the establishm­ent of Police Assistance Desks and Motorist Assistance Centers in the different areas in Caraga, the regional command of PRO 13 also ordered field unit commanders and city and municipal chiefs of police to mobilize “force multiplier­s” such as barangay intelligen­ce net, tanods, in strategic areas where heavy influx of people is expected.

“Police operations will be intensifie­d before, during, and after the All Saints’ and All Souls’ days to deter the lawless elements who may take advantage of the situation and carry out their nefarious plans,” PRO 13 Regional Director Chief Supt. Gilberto DC Cruz said.

The region’s police chief also ordered additional deployment of “Tourist Cops” in various tourist destinatio­ns in the region.

Meanwhile, PRO13 urged the public to be prudent and vigilant while away from their homes, when traveling or taking public transport, and when they are in cemeteries.

Cruz also reminded the people not to carry prohibited items inside the cemeteries during the “Undas” break.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Ronald C. Villanueva, commanding general of the Army’s Northeaste­rn and Northern Mindanao 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division on Tuesday ordered all Brigade and Battallion commanders as well as all operationa­l control (Opcon) unit commanders to assist the PNP in securing influx of people during, the All Saints Day and All Souls Day.
