The House of Representatives has adopted a resolution extending its felicitation and lauding Bishop Bro. Eduardo “Eddie” Villanueva for his successful and effective stewardship of the four decades-old Jesus Is Lord Church Worldwide (JIL Church) and for serving as a guiding light and inspiration for many Filipinos.
The Lower Chamber approved House Resolution 2226, describing Villanueva as “an instrument to promote socially relevant humanitarian programs not only for the JIL Church members, but for the whole country.”
The resolution, which was authored by House Majority Leader and Camarines Sur Rep. Rolando Andaya Jr., was adopted on October 10, 2018 before Congress adjourned session for a monthlong respite.
On Oct. 27, 2018, the JIL Church Worldwide, headed by its president and spiritual director Bro. Villanueva celebrated its 40th anniversary with the theme “Jesus is Lord.”
Under the resolution, Andaya said Villanueva “has continued to be a guiding light and inspiration for many Filipinos through his words and actions and has been a very passionate leader who sparked fire in the hearts of many Filipinos to fight for truth, equality, justice, and love for the country.”
Andaya noted that the JIL Church is an international Christian movement founded in 1978, beginning with a school outreach ministry with 15 students.
It has already established churches in more than 50 countries in six continents around the world.
Andaya cited that the JIL Church members, through the example set by Villanueva have always conducted themselves and lived their lives in accordance with the JIL Church's vision of “a glorious church, evangelizing and disciplining Filipinos and all the peoples of the world through teaching, preaching, and living out the fullGospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
He said the JIL Church has always stood by its vision and mission by establishing iCare Compassion Ministries, which promotes social responsibility and aims to respond to the specific needs of identified individuals in the community geared towards community transformation.
