Negros group to visit Taiwan farms
Agroup of Negros agribusinessmen led by Gov. Alfredo Marañon will visit fish and fruit farms in Taiwan on November 21 to 25, it was learned from the office of the governor.
The delegation consisting of 16 members will also attend the International Agriculture Show and International Fisheries and Seafood Show in Kaohsiung County.
The counties of Kaohsiung and Pingtung in the southern part of Taiwan are well known for their fruit farms that include wax apple (makopa), balimbing, guava, mango, pineapple, jujube and others.
Dr. Chung Un Wu, executive secretary, Political Division of Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office, has also arranged for a briefing on the cooperative development program in Taiwan. Also, the delegation will be able to meet and interview participants in the Young Farmers Development Program in the island nation.
The Philippine delegation will visit at 4 a.m. of November 23 the Fresh Vegetables and Fruits Wholesale Market to observe operations there.
Members of the delegation include Gov. Marañon, his wife Marilyn, former Gov. Rafael Coscolluela, Roberto Magalona, Gerry Ledesma, Gabin Jalandoni, Francine Uy, Ramon Uy Jr., Ramon Uy Sr., Japhet Masculino, Alfredo Barcelona, Zac B. Sarian and Arsenio Barcelona. Serving as guide is Jane Chen of Ever Bright Travel Agency.
