Bohol officials inspect soon to open airport

- By DAVE ALBRADO

TAGBILARAN CITY – Bohol provincial government officials on Saturday checked on the status of the New Panglao Bohol International Airport.

Gov. Edgar Chatto was given an update by the airport’s project manager Edgar Mangalili of the Department of Transportation (DoTR).

Chatto and his team were toured around the passenger terminal and the boarding bridges.

Based on the report on the DoTR website, the airport’s opening is provisionally set on November 22nd.

According to a report from the Capitol’s Effective Development Communications Unit (EDCOM), DoTR Sec. Arthur Tugade will be arriving soon to check on the status of the airport.

Mangalili said the final date for the inauguration will depend on the assessment of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

Chatto said it will be prudent not to rush the construction since Bohol has been able to wait for 30 years.

“Nakapaabot gani ta ug 30 ka tuig nga matuman ang giingong tugpahaanan,” (We are able to wait for 30 years for the completion of the airport) Chatto said.

The governor thanked the present and previous administration for the support and their contributions in making the Boholanos’ dream of a new, modern airport a reality.

He particularly thanked the Duterte administration for the support on the additional work on the airport.

The Panglao Bohol International Airport is set to become the country’s first eco-airport and the country’s newest gateway to the world.
